Hello, thank you for popping onto my website.
I am a Welsh Contemporary Artist, living and painting in Abergavenny, South Wales and here is a bit about myself:
I haven't always wanted to become an artist. Right from an early age I wanted to be an Archaeologist, and in fact married one! It was only when I resat my GCSEs in sixth form college, that I realised my talent and after several year in Archaeology, found a real dislike of getting wet and muddy!
I finished college with an Art GCSE and A level in the bag, but then decided to get married, so finished education for a time. I went back after a few years to do my foundation Art and design and then went on to study Textiles at degree level, as I found I loved anything that involved a process and textiles seemed to fit the bill.
Unfortunately, I never finished the course. Family life got in the way (which I'll tell you all about in my Biography, when I write it), and I had to stop after the first year. I don't think I would have enjoyed the end result anyway, as I noticed many students were destined to design wall paper and the like at the end of the course and that's just not me.
Anyway, today, 10 years later, I am finishing my degree with Open University, studying Art history and Creative writing, which I feel will be useful in my line of work.
Before making the decision to become an Artist, I was playing around with the idea of becoming a teacher in art, but several weeks helping out in a local secondary school, made me rethink this. Although like everything, life is a process and for me, going to help, gave me the confidence to move forward and also helped me remember all the things I learned when I was in school and University studying art.
So, here I am now. An Artist! A little scared, but ready to move into the world of art. All I need now is for you and others like you to keep me company on my journey.
Please feel free to have a good look around, whilst you're here and pop back from time to time, as I'll be adding to my portfolio all the time!
And if you like my work, don't forget to tell me in my Guest book ;)
